Mr. Vasilev has received exceptional training in piano, organ, and harpsichord. He has studied in schools such as the New School University in Manhattan, the Juilliard School of Music, and he has
studied, on scholarship, at the New England Conservatory of Music. He earned his Master’s in Fine Arts in concentrations of classical music, jazz, and contemporary performance.
Along with his exceptional education background, Mr. Vasilev has attended numerous master classes for various keyboard instruments. Such master classes brought Mr. Vasilev in contact with notable
keyboard players such as Julian Gembalski, Orest Koval, Andre Watts, and Asako Hirabayashi.
Mr. Vasilev has also studied with noteworthy private instructors such as with Chick Corea for Jazz piano. He has also studied with Mark Wilson for music composition as well as with Santiago Rodriguez
for piano performance.
Mr. Vasilev has acquired many honors and awards for his musical abilities. For instance, Mr. Vasilev, in 2002, received the Homer Ulrich Award for solo piano performance. Further, he has performed
around the world as a concert pianist with various symphony orchestras. Mr. Vasilev has played in Berlin, all over New York, in the Tampa Bay area, in churches, music festivals, and often with high
ranking artists, and he has proven himself to be a versatile and performer of the highest quality.
He has improvised under numerous styles from classical to jazz in performance. He has performed his original organ works at the International Bach Fest in Ukraine. Furthermore, he has released CDs of
his original works. With his classical trio, SoundProof, he has performed original works throughout Washington DC.
Vasilev is an accomplished composer as well as a pianist who covers a wide array of styles that range from classical to jazz and blues to what is otherwise complex, modern, and eclectic. As one with
so much experience and with so much passion for his art, Bill Vasilev is a pianist and teacher who derives immense joy in passing on his knowledge, his experience, and his art to others regardless of
their age and playing experience. He has the knowledge and the love of music and of teaching to bring out the love of music and piano as well as the playing ability in students of all
backgrounds.
